At the age of 21, Migael Pretorius – an electrifying medium pacer, made his first-class debut playing for Northerns against Eastern Province in the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup at Centurion (Oct 2016). The lanky pacer bagged 6 wickets in his first-class debut to help his team seal a 10-wicket win and it was an idyllic start to his first-class career.
With 42 wickets in 10 matches during the 2016–17 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup, Migael Pretorius ended up as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament. With his right-arm medium pace, Pretorius who's reasonably tall can generate the pace and bounce to surprise batsmen. The right arm pacer has played only 20-odd first-class matches but has got a good tally of wickets to his name in the format. Not only can he bowl, but Pretorius is pretty handy as a batsman in the lower order too, with 81* being his highest first-class score.
In March 2018 as a courtesy of his superb spell (5/41) against Boland, Northerns managed to pull off a 60-run win in the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup at Paarl. A few months later, in June 2018, Migael was one of the names announced in the Highveld Lions squad for the 2018-19 season.
