Biography

A top-order left handed batsman who can also chip in with his handy offbreaks, Wihan Lubbe is a South African batting all-rounder who made his first-class debut in 2013 against Western Province. With scores of 34 and 41 batting at number 3 in his debut first-class game, Lubbe played a crucial role in his team's victory as North West beat Western Province by 8 wickets. Lubbe was selected to play for Nelson Mandela Bay Stars due to his string of excellent performances with his university team in 2016.

Lubbe who has a decent first-class record with a highest score of 150* has also scored a T20 century. Playing in the Africa T20 Cup at Paarl on September 15, 2018, Wihan scored 102 for North West against Limpopo. It took only 33 balls for the youngster to score his century that consisted of 5 boundaries and 11 sixes. As a result of his scintillating knock, North West was able to post a massive score of 262/4 in the T20 contest and interestingly, North West won by a margin of 102 runs. In June 2018, Wihan was named in the Highveld Lions squad for the 2018–19 season.
