Biography

Brandan Mavuta skippered Zimbabwe in the 2016 ICC under 19 world cup and made quiet an impression with his performance. His team went on to lose the plate finals but they defeated neighbors South Africa in the tournament. He is a leg-spinner who is pretty handy with the willow in hand too. He was also a part of the National Emergence squad that toured England in the winters of 2017.

The 20 year old leg-spinning all-rounder is considered as one of the most astute young cricketers in Zimbabwean cricket. This was the reason he was handed the responsibility of leading the Zimbabwe team in the 2016 under-19 world cup.

After the successful Under-19 World Cup campaign, Mavuta was picked up in the squad of Mid-West Rhinos. In the first innings of his debut first class match, he picked up six wickets and followed it up a by a two wicket haul in the second innings.

In 2016, he went to England to play in the Yorkshire Cricket League and impressed one and all on those small grounds by finishing as the third most successful bowler in terms of number of wickets. He picked up 57 wickets in the season.
