One of the upcoming talents from the Rainbow Nation, Dithole is an aggressive wicket-keeper batsman, who also bowls occasional off-breaks. He made his first-class debut for the KwaZulu-Natal Inland in 2011. Nicknamed 'Alvin', Dithole stamped his presence at various age-levels for Gauteng by piling up runs at will and eventually finished as the third highest run-getter for his club only behind de Kock and Shaylen Pillay.
He continued to surge with his batting performances at the U-19s and some of his notable knocks include 116 against Border Alloes and 125 against the Eastern Province Midlands. In 2012, the youngster was overlooked by the selectors for South Africa's U-19 World Cup squad in Australia. But that didn't deter the youngster as he carried on with his calm and determined approach with the bat to enjoy a successful domestic season in the next few years. In 2016, he was signed by the Dolphins for the T20 competition and If nurtured well, it’s envisaged that the youngster has a big future in the game.
