Biography

An elegant left-hander with a high back-lift, Nazmul Hossain plays for Rajshahi domestically since November 2014. He hit the headlines at a very young age, when he struck a double-century in a one-day match at the school level. The southpaw was selected for the Under-19 World Cup, 2014 at the age of 15. In the 2015 season, he registered his maiden first-class century playing for Rajshahi Division.

It was in the year 2016 when Nazmul Hussain's career started to blossom. It started with the Under-19 World Cup which was held in his home country - Bangladesh - where he received back-to-back man of the match awards against South Africa and Scotland. He aggregated 259 runs which helped his team finish third in the tournament. In the same year, he was picked by the then defending champions Comilla Victorians for the fourth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. He scored a fifty on his debut game against the likes of Tymal Mills, Taskin and Mohammad Nabi.

In November 2016, Shanto was chosen by the selectors for a preparatory camp held in Sydney, ahead of the national team's tour to New Zealand. Nazmul was added to the Bangladesh's Test squad following an injury to Mominul Haque on the eve of the second Test against the Kiwis. He made his debut in Christchurch, where all he managed was scores of 18 and 12. He was dropped for the next assignment - the one-off Test match against India in Hyderabad.
