Biography

In a game full of glorious uncertainties, few are known for the right reasons while a few are highlighted for all the wrong reasons. Olly Robinson is unique; he is known for either of them. The stepson of Paul Farbrace - England's assistant coach for a long time - Ollie Robinson won a contract with Yorkshire before the start of 2013 English season and impressed instantly with his death bowling skills in white ball cricket.

A few months later, he was admonished for a 'number of unprofessional actions' which involved several disciplinary reasons that brought an end to his tenure with Yorkshire in 2014. Robinson, though, ensured that he didn't fall off the cliff and continued to hunt for opportunities after brief stints with Essex and Hampshire. Later in 2015, in his debut innings for Sussex, Ollie put up a clinic with the bat as he engineered 164 runs for the last wicket with Matthew Hobden against Durham and broke a 107-year old record for the best tenth-wicket stand for Sussex while at it. That innings boosted Ollie's revival and helped him strike a deal with Sussex for the next two seasons.

Ollie claimed 46 wickets in his debut season that included a 6 for 33 against Warwickshire at Hove, and his natural ability to bowl off-spin made him a valuable asset at Sussex. Ollie's bag of tricks includes seam-bowling, a variety of slower balls, off-spin and is a perfect fit for power hitting in the lower-middle order.
