That is all from us for tonight. We hope you had great fun following this contest. It will be Gujarat Giants vs UP Warriorz tomorrow, do remember to tune in for that. Until then, cheers and goodbye from Raju Peethala and Mukesh Gowda.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Niki Prasad led India U-19 to a World Cup win in Kuala Lumpur. And here she is - just finished playing her debut game in WPL and proving why she was made the skipper of the U-19 team. She may not have got enough opportunities to showcase her skills during the World Cup, but her composure with the bat today revealed a lot more than what the stats suggest. And that is what WPL is all about. Unearthing future stars for India. And just as I type this, Niki Prasad gets a warm hug from Indian legend Mithali Raj. She looks quite emotional now. Lovely scenes!!
Niki Prasad | Player of the Match: This is the first game for me in WPL and all I wanted to do was go out there and express myself. I did visualize before the game and I knew what I had to do and that is what I did. The situation we were in, singles weren't enough and all I wanted to do with those singles was some calculative boundaries as well. Motivated to go out there and give my best.
Meg Lanning | DCW skipper: That was way too stressful. I thought we were well on track, Shikha bowled well and put us in a great position. Happpy to get on the board. The bowlers executed really well and you just gotta keep changing it up when the batters get set and it was nice ability to keep that to that score. Niki did an excellent job to come in at a tricky time and accelerate at the end. Radha played her part as well. Really good win.
Sarah Bryce: The situation dictated what we needed to do. Thankfully it came off and got a little partnership with Niki. Unbelievable game, unbelievable atmosphere and a great day to be a part of. They got off to a really good start and we pulled it back. The girls were outstanding to give us a chance to chase that down. That it is probably going to be different to what you have experienced before. India is such a great place. I have been really lucky at the opportunities I have had in the last couple of years, in the Hundred and the WBBL, even though I have not played in India before, that experience certainly helps.
Harmanpreet Kaur | MIW captain: I think, even though we were not able to set a decent total, we thought we could cross 200 when me and Nat Sciver-Brunt were there. The five balls cost us but our bowlers did well and we were in the match till the last ball. Ismail is someone who is a great bowler and it is a privilege that she is in our side. Saika is someone who bowls for the team and unfortunately we misfielded and that cost us. Playing full 20 overs and whoever is there, that batter should bat till the end. Even myself I should have continued till the end. Our batters need to take more responsibility in the next game.
