Michael Neser | Player of the Match: Probably with the bat (talking about his favourite part today), I went out there hoping for 15 and got 60, the coach also told me to try and get 15. It was one of those innings where everything worked for me I guess. Once that new ball got a bit softer, it was a beautiful wicket and you got value for your shots and glad that everything hit the middle of the bat.
22:16 Local Time, 12:16 GMT, 17:46 IST: Brisbane Heat lock in the top-spot and will play host to the Qualifier on the 19th. They recovered superbly from 91 for 5 and added an exact 100 more runs to finish at 191 for 6 from their 20 overs. The match was then decided in the batting powerplay as the Scorchers wilted under some disciplined stuff from the Heat new-ball bowlers. They didn't lose too many wickets, but they couldn't break the shackles and let the required rate go to double figures. It needed a lot of catching up and they did try - Josh Inglis and Laurie Evans added 48 quick runs for the fourth wicket, but the former fell during the power surge and the latter lacked support from the other end. He was eventually dismissed in the 19th over, for a 29-ball 51, with Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett holding their nerves. But the night belonged to Michael Neser, who made runs, took wickets and completed a spectacular catch. On current form, they'll be tough to defeat, but the Scorchers have a chance to exact revenge, with the two teams returning for the reverse fixture at Perth on 13th. The fun continues at the Big Bash as teams line-up to secure or at least stay in touch with a possible playoff position. It's the Strikers against the Hurricanes tomorrow. Do join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..
