NZ have come up with a hat-trick of wins. But little sheen would have gone off the win as KW seem to be nursing another injury as he took a blow to one of his thumbs. That won't be pleasing for sure. Bangladesh have their woes to cater to as well. Shakib seems to be more and more disconcerted and has gone for scans. That is enough to give the Bangladesh fans a sleepless night tonight besides the fact that their team was drubbed today. The bowling attack of NZ is looking lethal as well. Boult, Henry and Ferguson taking care of the pace department. Santner, Ravindra and Phillips covering the spin base. This team is surely going the distance? Third time lucky? Questions and answers will continue on the loop as the tournament moves along. We will have more questions and hopefully apt answers as tomorrow the roofs will go off in most of the Indian subcontinent homes. It is India vs Pakistan! For tonight, this is KAD, Raju Peethala, Akshay Maanay and Venkatesh signing off.
Kane Williamson | New Zealand captain: [on the knock to his thumb] Just made holding the bat a little tough. Secondary to the thumb (laughs). The guys in the first half with the ball were excellent. Was nice to build partnerships and take it deep. Midway through the powerplay we thought we can hit the deck a little hard. Good competitive wicket. Really good team performance. Lockie was outstanding. The seam bowlers were really effective. He hasn't had the good fortune. Was nice to be out there and be part of some of the partnerships. Just scrapped through the new ball. Great team performance. Mitchell is a great contributor. He is a team first guy. He has been great to watch.
Najmul Hossain Shanto (comes in to talk in place of Shakib): [on Shakib] He is going for his scans. We will know after that. We didn't bat well. We didn't start well. We batted poorly even in the last game in the first 10-15 overs. The wicket looks good. Some bounce with the new ball. We have to bat little responsibly. If we bat a little carefully in the first 10-15, then we can do well. Our pace bowlers did well. I think the biggest improvement has been our fast bowling department. We will have to bat well.
Most wins against a team without any loss in WC
8 - Pakistan vs Sri Lanka
7 - India vs Pakistan
6 - West Indies vs Zimbabwe
6 - New Zealand vs Bangladesh*
Lockie Ferguson | Player of the Match: It was a classic team effort from the Black Caps. Everyone bowled really, created pressure throughout and then I could come in and do my role. Compared to what we had in Hyderabad this had more bounce, I tried to test it out early and if it is working then stick to it, I pushed them back and then bowled the full ball. It is early stages but nice to get three wins. We are enjoying our time and the group is being great back together, looking forward to the next game. Fortunately I have got that experience (of travelling across India), I haven't played here much but it's nice to get around and see some pace in the wicket, playing Afghanistan here next and hopefully the same wicket.
21:40 Local Time, 16:10 GMT, 21:40 IST: 246 was never a challenging total. It was an iffy total maybe. But NZ have won it in a canter. Ravindra had his first failure. But they had Kane Williamson back and he celebrated it with a neat half-ton. He is Bradycardia to the Tachycardia that the game is in the middle. Just didn't let the stress of a WC chase to get to you. Had it in control and they entered the cruise control mode when Mitchell gave him company. An unlucky thumb injury meant KW had to retire hurt but the damage was done. Mitchell seemed flawless the moment he hit the first ball for a sixer. He made his intentions clear from ball one and seemed like he was batting on a different turf. NZ barely have any loose ends. One team who has made it clear that they will be front-runners for the top four seats. Bangladesh now have succumbed to their second defeat. They were thwarted by England and NZ also have swatted them aside. This is their 6th loss against NZ from 6 games in World Cups. It could have been worse had it not been a fifty from Rahim. Shakib also doesn't seem 100 percent. That is bad news indeed. Hang on for the presentation ceremony.
