The players are out in the middle and we're ready to start Day 4.
Play will start at 10:15 am local time
The green tinge has dried out and it's helping the surface hold up well. There have been a few deliveries that's kept low, but they've been outside the line of off-stump. It's about Zimbabwe limiting Afghanistan's lead, anything around 250 and they should feel comfortable chasing it, says Darlington Matamnbanadzo, in his pitch report
09:22 Local Time, 07:22 GMT, 12:52 IST: It's a bright start to the day, the sun is out and the players are warming up. But we're hearing that some parts of the outfield is damp after heavy overnight showers and we might not start on time
09:00 Local Time, 07:00 GMT, 12:30 IST: Day three turned out to be a slow burner, both on and off the field. The pitch has lost most of its spice, the pace is down and there's hardly anything in it for the pacers or the spinners. As the ball grew old, batting became a lot easier and Rahmat Shah prospered. Having done all the hard yards on the second evening, he grew into the innings and richly deserved his 3rd Test hundred. Ismat Alam overcame a sketchy start to compile a fitty on debut and Afghanistan have stretched their lead to 205 runs. Rain played spoilsport in the final session and there are chances of showers today as well. Would Sunday be the moving day of the Test? The first ball will be bowled at 9:30 am
Play has been called off for the day. With rain still falling, it was an easy decision for the two on-field umpires. We'll be back at 9:30 am tomorrow as this Test rolls on. Do join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..
16:50 Local Time, 14:50 GMT, 20:20 IST: Afghanistan are effectively 205 for 7 and this has been an excellent recovery. Rahmat Shah's 139 was the anchor around which this innings has grown, he was well supported by Ismat Aslam (64*) and the pair added 132 for the 7th wicket. Zimbabwe did try everything, but it was evident that the pitch was slowing down and batting became easier as the ball went soft and old. Not a lot of rough / cracks for the spinners to exploit and the visitors will believe that they're firmly back in the contest. The rain is becoming very heavy, the entire square has been covered and this looks terminal for today's play. More and more covers are being brought on, the drainage here ain't great and the ground staff could be in for some hard work once this rain stops.
16:41 Local Time, 14:41 GMT, 20:11 IST: The light has deteriorated and the players are walking off.
90.6
Newman Nyamhuri to Rashid Khan, FOUR, to long-on
90.5
Newman Nyamhuri to Rashid Khan, no run
90.4
Newman Nyamhuri to Rashid Khan, no run, short of a good length and just outside off, Rashid Khan gets right behind the line in defence
90.3
Newman Nyamhuri to Ismat Alam, 3 runs, nicely played, back of a length and at the pads, clipped in front of square on the on-side, the timing is sweet and the ball was racing away - needed a big slide from Bennett to prevent the boundary
90.2
Newman Nyamhuri to Ismat Alam, byes, FOUR, was it a chance? Could've flicked the glove on its way, given as byes though, four of them - short and angling down leg, Ismat Alam was shaping for the pull. Gumbie moved across and should've collected it
90.1
Newman Nyamhuri to Rashid Khan, 1 run, short of a good length and at the pads, past Rashid Khan's flick and the ball rolls behind square on the on-side for a single
Newman Nyamhuri [13.0-2-47-0] is back into the attack
The two umpires confer once again, the reading will be taken at both ends
89.6
Muzarabani to Rashid Khan, 1 run, back of a length and in that channel wide of off, steered behind square on the off-side for a run
89.5
Muzarabani to Rashid Khan, no run
