Time for the national anthems..
There was a slight drizzle around toss time, but conditions look much better. Probably was a passing shower..
Teams:
India (Playing XI): Sanju Samson(w), Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Avesh Khan
South Africa (Playing XI): Aiden Markram(c), Ryan Rickelton, Reeza Hendricks, Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen(w), David Miller, Marco Jansen, Andile Simelane, Gerald Coetzee, Keshav Maharaj, Nqabayomzi Peter
Suryakumar Yadav: We wanted to bat first and play same brand of cricket, happy with the things in the last match. You always learn something or the other in every game. We want to continue the good habits. No changes, playing with the same XI.
Aiden Markram: We are going to bowl first again. With rain around, that's the obvious part. Hope the bowlers use the moisture. Kruger is out, Hendricks is in. We are not concerned about the outcome or result.
South Africa have won the toss and have opted to field
Right then, it's toss time..
Pitch Report: Overcast, stiff breeze, some possibility of rain. There is more grass than usual but it is hard and firm. It looks good to the eye. There will be some early seam movement. You would want to bowl first on this surface, reckon Shaun Pollock and Ashwell Prince
15:00 Local Time, 13:00 GMT, 18:30 IST: In the longer formats India has been struggling since Gambhir’s appointment as India’s head coach, but in the shortest format, the Men in Blue have looked as solid as ever. They recently won the T20 World Cup under Rahul Dravid’s tenure, and the T20 unit has seen a smooth transition after the retirement of few senior players. Samson scored a magnificent century against Bangladesh in Hyderabad last month, and the talented young batsman backed it up with another spectacular performance in the first T20I just a couple of days back. As a result of Samson’s rollicking knock, India notched up a total of 200-odd and their bowlers put up a clinical show to complete a comfortable victory. The action now moves to Gqeberha as it’s time for the second match of the 4-match T20I series. India wouldn’t be keen to make any changes after an emphatic win, however, given their poor show in Durban, South Africa might make a few changes in their playing XI to get their team combination and balance right. Let’s see what does this clash have in store for us. The toss and teams are not far away..
