Kusal Mendis - I'm very happy to have got a hundred, I haven't played a big innings, but I wanted to play my part for the team. Everyone else supported me well. The wicket is very good for batting, I played my own game, we did lose a couple of wickets,. but I kept playing my shots. The bounce is low, it was important for me to play a long innings and play through the line of the ball.
21:03 Local Time, 15:33 GMT, 21:03 IST: That's a daunting total posted by Jaffna Kings on a decent batting surface. The pacers were punished early on by Kusal Mendis, but the Kandy spinners took some wickets in the middle-overs and pulled things back to an extent. Chaturanga de Silva and Ramesh Mendis bagged two wickets each and their economy was pretty good as well. A lot was expected from Hasaranga as well, but he proved to be expensive today. The leg-spinner did manage to take a wicket on the last ball of his spell though. For Jaffna Kings, Mendis played a spectacular knock as the opener notched up his ton in the 19th over, while Omarzai played a pivotal cameo to power the Kings past the 185-run mark. Can Kandy Falcons chase it down? Join us back in 10 minutes for the second essay to find out..
