Aavishkar Salvi | India's bowling coach: I am enjoying it thoroughly. The kind of effort, the kind of energy the girls are showing throughout, it's been amazing. She (Sneh Rana) was brilliant. 8/77 - she came out with a spell which was amazing. The way she extracted the bounce, the way she extracted the turn, the kind of line and length she bowled, the way she disguised her variations, that was amazing. The control that she had overall, that was spectacular. We have been fielding for the last 170 overs. The positive side was the energy and the kind of thinking that was going on while they were into their spells, that was brilliant. Both of our spinners have bowled almost 45 and 46 overs, the left-arm spinner has bowled 33 overs. The energy on the ground has been brilliant. They have been trying various plans, they have been trying various options. Sometimes you also have to give it to the batters. The way they batted was brilliant but the way our girls are bowling out there, it's just a matter of time. They'll get there. The conditions are not in our control. We control the controllables that we have in our hands. The skill, the execution that we need to have throughout, that's the only thing that we need to focus upon. Be positive, just think about our best options and just operate accordingly.
Sune Luus: It was awesome to celebrate that victory (hundred), something special and something you never really know can happen. An awesome day for us yesterday and hopefully we can continue that today. When you go through a patch of no runs, you crave those runs and you really get hungry for it. When it happens, that achievement, it's something you can't explain. It's such a relief that you stuck to your processes and you followed everything that you've been doing and it's coming off. It was a really satisfying day. When we got to the field yesterday and when we still had 6 wickets in hand, I wasn't really prepared to go onto the field again. I thought we were going to stick it out. To go back with the follow-on, I don't think my mind was ready to bat yet but it worked. To not overthink everything and just go out there and play every ball on its merit. It was obviously very tough conditions yesterday. The wicket is doing a bit, you don't really know what you're going to get every ball, it's a mystery. Laura and I just worked in intervals. We just tried to bat time, we didn't really care about the score yesterday. The coach said, 'just bat selfishly and the more selfish you bat, the better it will be for the team as well.' We just tried to build that partnership in terms of time. We worked in intervals of 20 minutes, it was very hot as well, we just tried to help each other out, talk to each other, keep each other calm, stay focussed and it paid off yesterday.
09:05 local, 03:35 GMT:
Sneh Rana: It was initially challenging for the spinners because the ball wasn't turning much. Later on, enjoyed as we got it to spin. Mindset is clear - to bowl in the right areas. We were trying hard for wickets. We are going for the kill - that's our mindset. Laura and Kapp are two of best batters in the world. They have done really well in the past. They played really well and you got to give them the credit. We (bowlers) have been complementing each other and even the fielders have supported us.
16:55 Local Time, 11:25 GMT, 16:55 IST: After the end of the first session, there were thoughts of when would this game end? SA had other plans. Luus and Wolvaardt had massive plans actually. They made India toil very hard. Luus got a ton. And Wolvaardt is just a few runs away from her ton. Their determination and courage shone bright at the Chepauk. They battled the heat, the humidity, the spin, the variable bounce and negated everything thrown at them. India had rattled the remaining six wickets in the first hour on day 3. But then SA didn't offer many chances to the Indian team. Kapp did offer chances a little late in the day but Deepti dropped it both times. She dropped one at slip and one off her own bowling. The onus will be on this pair of Kapp and Wolvaardt to bat for as long as they can on the final day and for India. Rana's 8-fer ideally should have made the headlines. But Wolvaardt batting on 93 and Luus's ton have overshadowed the efforts of the Indians. Day 4, India will have to go for wickets. The wicket has some assistance on it. But won't be easy for the Indians. SA have put up a spirited show. And they would want to extend the same sort of performance on the final day as well.
