Conditions are overcast as the players walk out on the third morning.
Yesterday was also a day to remember for Gus Atkinson as he stroked his way to a maiden Test hundred. Never looked like a number eight while he was out there and joined an elite club of players with a 10-fer and a Test hundred at Lord's.
Sri Lanka find themselves in this situation after a disappointing show with the bat. Some of the wickets were more because of batter error rather than a result of wicket-taking deliveries. The two openers played away from the body and dragged on, and then Pathum Nissanka and Dinesh Chandimal were a bit soft as they got caught down the leg-side. But they also had to contend with some excellent bowling, especially from the likes of Matthew Potts and Chris Woakes who got a lot more out of the pitch than their counterparts.
Day 3, 10am local: Morning all! Welcome to our coverage of the third day's play at Lord's where England are sitting pretty with a lead of 256. They still have nine wickets in hand and will look to bat Sri Lanka out of the game today on a pitch that's not playing too many tricks but is on the slower side.
18:33 Local Time, 17:33 GMT, 23:03 IST: England are in complete control of this Lord's Test after a day where their bowlers dominated proceedings to knock over the visitors for just 196. They thoroughly outbowled their Sri Lanka counterparts and were able to get a lot more out of the pitch in terms of movement. All four seamers picked up two wickets each, but Matthew Potts and Chris Woakes were particularly impressive, as was Shoaib Bashir when he got his chance. Only Kamindu Mendis was able to offer resistance in the Sri Lankan lineup as he continued to enhance his growing reputation with a classy 76. But it wasn't going to be enough to stop England's charge as they secured a massive lead of 231. The writing seems to be on the wall for Sri Lanka who'll be hoping to do some damage limitation tomorrow against a batting lineup that won't be holding back. That's all we have for now. Goodbye!

Lahiru Kumara to Lawrence, out Caught by Madushka!! Full ball outside off, nips back in, Lawrence gets forward to defend but is beaten on the inside edge. It goes off his pad to the keeper who takes the catch and appeals for caught-behind. Was there a little inside edge on it? The umpire says not out and Sri Lanka go for the review. Oh there's a spike next to the inside edge. The decision will be overturned and Lawrence can't believe it, nor can Stokes on the balcony as he has his hand on his mouth. Lawrence shakes his head repeatedly as he walks off. Lawrence c Madushka b Lahiru Kumara 7(12) [4s-1]
