Tough Start for Kohli: Dismissed Early in Delhi vs Railways Ranji Match

Virat Kohli made his return to India’s top domestic First-Class competition, the Ranji Trophy, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, but only managed to score six runs.

Kohli was out for six runs off 15 balls, losing his off-stump to right-arm pacer Himanshu Sangwan. Just before that, Kohli had hit a boundary off the same bowler, but he fell trying to replicate the shot as the ball swung in more than the previous delivery.

At 36 years old, Kohli is back in the Ranji Trophy after nearly 13 years, his last appearance in the tournament being in November 2012 against Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad.

The opening day of the match between Delhi and Railways attracted over 15,000 fans eager to see the local star play. However, they had to wait as Delhi opted to field first. After bowling the Railways out for 241, Delhi lost only one wicket by the end of the day, with Kohli poised to bat next.

The crowd erupted when Yash Dhull was dismissed in the first session of the second day by Rahul Sharma. Excitement filled the air as Kohli entered to a warm welcome. Unfortunately, his quick dismissal led to many fans leaving the stadium disappointed.

Shortly after getting Kohli out, Himanshu also dismissed Sanat Sangwan, who was at the other end when Kohli was batting, for 30 runs off 81 balls.
